STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING

I understand that as a member of the Career and Technical Education Pathway program at Narragansett High school in Agriculture Science, Information and Computer Technology, Education, or Mechanical Trades in Plumbing, I am required to take the sequence of courses set forth by the program.  In addition, I understand that I need to maintain and appropriate level of conduct and academic expectations that are set forth within the courses within the program.  By signing and submitting this form, I agree that if my grade for the courses is below an 80 at any progress reporting period, I will be required to attend support sessions until my grade increases to an 80 or higher on a progress/quarter grade reporting period.  I also recognize that if my conduct is such that it causes a safety concern for myself or others, I will not be able to continue in the pathway and will forfeit any opportunities granted to me by being enrolled in the program. For out of district students, this would mean returning to your sending school district.

School records requested by Narragansett may include, but are not limited to, course grades, standardized tests, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), attendance, health and medical records, extracurricular activities, conduct reports, social case history assessment, speech/language evaluation and psychological/educational/psychiatric evaluation reports.

I hereby give permission to my child's current school/district to release the school records of my child (named in the above form) to the Narragansett School District for the purpose of application/admission/placement into Narragansett High School Pathway.  

By checking the box below AND signing with your full name, you are giving the Narragansett School System permission to obtain these records from the student's current school.

If you plan to move forward with this application and/or you are accepted, you will also be required to print this application and submit it to the superintendent of schools in the district where you live.

Once you receive this signature, you have the option to either drop off a signed copy to our High School office or scan and email a PDF to Joan Pratley at JPratley@nssk12.org.

This is to ensure the district in the town where you live is aware of the potential out-of-district enrollment for budgetary purposes.

How Acceptances are Reviewed and Decided On:

The decision to admit a student is made jointly by the Narragansett High School CTE Application Committee comprised of department heads from each CTE program offering, members of the guidance office, and members from the administration that will be working within the program throughout the year.  The committee takes into account the student’s education and discipline records, written application answers, experience, and overall passion to be a part of the program.  Admissions to the program follows the Narragansett School System non-discrimination policy, which states:
